  6. Click Save

Photo Requirements

  • File size: Maximum 10MB per image
  • Formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP
  • Recommended: JPG for best compatibility and smaller file sizes

Why Upload Photos?

Regular photo documentation helps you:

  • Track growth - Compare size over time
  • Monitor patterns - Document color and pattern changes
  • Record sheds - Before and after shed comparisons
  • Health documentation - Visual evidence of issues for vet visits
  • Collection showcase - Build a visual portfolio

📸 Photography Tips

  • • Use natural lighting for accurate colors
  • • Take consistent angles (top-down, side profile) for comparisons
  • • Include a size reference (ruler, hand) when documenting growth
  • • Photograph after sheds when colors are brightest
  • • Take multiple angles to capture full detail

Organizing Your Gallery

Photos are displayed in reverse chronological order (newest first). Use captions to organize and categorize:

  • "Post-shed, March 2024"
  • "Growth comparison - 6 months"
  • "Health issue - left foot"
  • "Before breeding"

Managing Photos

Each photo card has options to:

  • View full size - Click the photo to see it larger
  • Edit caption - Update the description
  • Delete - Permanently remove the photo

💡 Pro Tip: Consistent Documentation

Take photos at regular intervals (monthly, after each shed, etc.) from the same angles. This creates a visual timeline that makes growth and changes much easier to see.

Storage Limits

Photo storage limits depend on your subscription tier:

  • Free: Up to 3 photos per animal
  • Pro: Up to 25 photos per animal

Photos are stored securely on AWS S3 and linked to your account. If you delete a reptile, all associated photos are also deleted.

Troubleshooting Uploads

If photos won't upload:

  • Check file size is under 10MB
  • Verify the format is supported (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP)
  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  • Try refreshing the page and uploading again
