General Questions
What is Herp-Ops?
Herp-Ops is a comprehensive reptile care management system designed for hobbyists, breeders, and collectors. It helps you track feeding schedules, health records, weight, photos, and more for all your reptiles in one place.
How much does Herp-Ops cost?
Herp-Ops offers two tiers:
- Free - Up to 3 reptiles with all core features
- Hobbyist ($9/month) - Up to 15 reptiles, advanced analytics, and data export features
- Pro ($15/month) - Unlimited reptiles, advanced analytics, bulk actions, and priority support

Can I try Pro features before subscribing?
Yes! You can sign up for free and explore Herp-Ops with up to 3 reptiles. Upgrade to Pro or Hobbyist at any time to unlock unlimited reptiles and advanced features.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Your data is stored securely on AWS infrastructure, and we never share your information with third parties. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
Account & Setup
How do I create an account?
Visit app.herpops.com and click Sign In. You can sign up using your Google account or an email/password combination.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the sign-in page, click Forgot Password? and enter your email. You'll receive a password reset link within a few minutes.
Can I change my email address?
Yes, go to Settings and update your email address in the account section. You'll need to verify the new email before the change takes effect.
Reptile Management
How many reptiles can I add?
Free tier users can add up to 3 reptiles. Pro users have unlimited reptiles.
Can I add multiple photos per reptile?
Yes! You can upload as many photos as you like for each reptile. Photos are great for tracking growth, pattern changes, and creating a visual history.
What happens if I delete a reptile?
Deleting a reptile permanently removes all associated data including feeding logs, health records, weight entries, photos, and schedules. This cannot be undone, so please be certain before deleting.
Feeding Schedules
How do feeding schedules work?
You set a frequency (e.g., "Every 3 days") and Herp-Ops tracks when you last fed your reptile. It automatically calculates the next due date and alerts you if a feeding becomes overdue.
What if I miss a feeding?
The schedule status will change to OVERDUE so you know action is needed. Just log the feeding when you do it, and the schedule will recalculate based on that new date.
Can I have multiple feeding schedules for one reptile?
Currently, each reptile can have one feeding schedule. If you need to track different feeding types (e.g., insects vs. vegetables), use the notes field in each feeding log.
How do I pause a feeding schedule?
Edit the schedule and set it to Inactive. This is useful during brumation, illness, or any time you want to temporarily stop reminders without deleting the schedule.
Health & Weight Tracking
Should I log every weight measurement?
Yes! Consistent weight tracking helps you identify health issues early. Log weights at regular intervals (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on your reptile's age).
Can I export my health records?
Yes, go to Export in the navigation menu and choose CSV or PDF export for your data. This is useful for vet visits or record keeping.
What should I include in health record notes?
Include any observations like behavior changes, appearance issues, treatments given, vet recommendations, or anything that might be relevant to your reptile's health history.
Technical Issues
The app isn't loading. What should I do?
Try these steps:
- Refresh the page (Cmd+R on Mac, Ctrl+R on Windows)
- Clear your browser cache and cookies
- Try a different browser
- Check your internet connection
If the issue persists, visit the Troubleshooting page or contact support.
My photos won't upload. Why not?
Check that:
- The file is under 10MB
- The file is in a supported format (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP)
- You have a stable internet connection
If problems continue, try a smaller image or contact support.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
We appreciate bug reports! Please email support@herpops.com with:
- A description of what happened
- What you expected to happen
- Steps to reproduce the issue
- Screenshots (if applicable)
- Your browser and device information
Billing & Subscription
How do I upgrade to Pro?
Go to Billing in the navigation menu and click Upgrade to Pro. You'll be redirected to Stripe to complete payment.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, you can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from the Billing page. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period, then automatically downgrade to the Free tier.
What happens to my data if I downgrade?
Your data is never deleted. If you exceed the Free tier limit (3 reptiles), you'll need to either remove reptiles or upgrade back to Pro to add more.
